💭 Our Trip: First Impressions

[Magda’s reflections on the Valley of the Giants visit will go here…]

📜 A Brief History

The Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk opened in 1996 as an eco-tourism attraction designed to showcase the magnificent tingle forest while minimizing environmental impact. The tingle trees (Eucalyptus jacksonii) are endemic to this small region of Western Australia and are some of the largest trees in the state, with some individuals reaching over 400 years old and 24 meters in circumference at the base.

The Tree Top Walk was the first of its kind in Australia, designed to rise 40 meters into the forest canopy and stretch for 600 meters through the treetops. The innovative design uses a series of lightweight truss bridges that distribute weight without damaging the ancient trees. The walk provides a unique perspective of the forest ecosystem, allowing visitors to experience the canopy layer that is normally inaccessible.
